Do I Really Want a Spiritual Practice?

When I look at a blank page, I fret. What could I possibly say that would be of any use to anyone? Humanity is barraged with information. It’s a suffocating onslaught that numbs the senses. And perhaps that is the intention of some of it. But also, as we know, there is some really good stuff out there. I want to be that really good stuff. At least for a sliver of the populace. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and I am at peace with that. What I am, is over-the-moon-passionate about what I do and write. And I know there are others out there who are waking up to their own inner realization of our current spiritual evolution. Those are my peeps. And perhaps, I write for them. But that’s not the whole picture.

In my meditation this morning, I was called to sit down and write. Called by whom, you might ask? Every morning and every night (plus anytime during the day as needed), I chat with my team. This particular team is void of humans. I have those wise, human counsel teams as well, but that post is for another day.

My non-human team speaks with one voice. Let me explain. I don’t mean that they are all the same being, only that they do not contradict each other. Each individual being is unique. I have worked with them long enough that there is no way I would confuse them. That would be like you confusing your two best friends. They may be similar, but they are not the same person. And that distinction is crystal-clear apparent to you.

And how does one connect with their spirit team? It is at once the easiest answer in the world, and the hardest of all. Here’s how you do it, sit quiet with the intention to interact with them. That’s it. They are there and they are willing. That is the easy part. The hard part lies with us. Finding routine quiet time. Getting past any old, outdated beliefs. All of the mind chatter that says, “I can’t do it!” - “I shouldn’t do it!” - “I will have to change if I do it!” That’s the hard part; if we let it. The choice is ours.

What is our priority when it comes to our personal spiritual practice? Do we have one? Do we want one? If so, how high up the priority list do we want to place it? And not just with words but with actions. And let’s not guilt trip ourselves if we aren’t living up to our own spiritual standards. That’s just more old, unhealthy patterning. Think of a kindergartner learning her colors. Does she care? Does she put in any effort? Would it make any difference to her if she embraced that process? A good parent might want her to experience the enriched life that color would bring, but I’m guessing that parent would love her regardless. And at some point, the loss of the knowledge of color will get her attention.
