Susan Rambles: Don’t Shock the Shot! As with espresso, it’s best to ease into change.
I have been working as a Barista these past nearly two years. One thing I have learned is that when making an iced coffee drink, you can’t just pour the freshly made, hot shot of espresso over ice. That hurried error “Shocks the Shot” and ruins the exquisite flavor of a quality blend. Don’t do it.
As with espresso, it’s best to ease into drastic change. I know in many ways, that’s a ludicrous statement. Not because I oughtn’t use latte metaphors. Check out my Coffee as Guru Series and you will see that that doesn’t scare me off at all. No, rather, with the rapid fire changes we are all going through on this planet - on all levels - easing into change seems an impossibility. Maybe so. I know I struggle. Blink your eyes and the rules have changed. Again.
So, how do we manage? Our very brains are wired to mistrust change. It’s called a survival mechanism and it’s probably why our species still lives. But change is also necessary for growth and betterment of the individual and the collective. So, how?
My pat answer is to do what works. And if it doesn’t work, stop doing it and try something else. There are volumes upon volumes of techniques and research that offer ways of calming our nervous system and dealing with difficulties. Go explore until you land on something that sings to you.
And for those who say, “I just want it to go back to the way it was.” That ain’t gonna happen. Nor do we want it to happen. All of the icky stuff coming to light is not new, it was just better hidden in the past. With the energy shift on the planet, there is no more hiding anything. There is no way of sweeping the ick back under the carpet. The lower frequencies are shifting away and the higher frequencies are rising. This is super spectacular news. It’s also hard as hell to get through such massive changes. But we can do it. Focus on what you want to create. What should you create, you might ask? How about the New Earth and how you want it to look. Find ways/people/places/organizations/events/etc. that lift you up and give you hope. Don’t create alone. Join with healthy people doing healthy, loving things. Look for people who truly seem like they are at peace. Go be with them. Go learn from them. We can do this!
