#7. What do you do if your body tells you, "Yes, this emotion belongs to you." (WRITTEN classet series - Tool Kit for Sensitives and Empaths)


 

Are you tired of being an emotional sponge, taking on the feelings and pain of others? Learn how to identify these emotions, know who they belong to, how to release them, and how to protect yourself.

Now that we know the feeling belongs to us, it is helpful to know which emotion it is. This may be easily apparent. But sometimes, we have no idea what it is. This can especially be true if the emotion is supercharged like anxiety or terror. It’s difficult for the brain to go into a discovery mode when it is existing in a “Flight, Fight, Freeze, or Fawn” mode. Use calming techniques such as breathing to settle your mind into a more peaceful place. I know this can be difficult. You don’t have to get to a totally Zen-space, but just a bit calmer so that you can think straight.

Then ask the question, “What is this emotion called?” Without trying to force it, let the answer come.  If it doesn’t come in that moment, perhaps it will come to you later.
