I’m sick of this pain/drama/crazy-ass-world! Guide Book to Level Up
Why? Why is this happening to me? I’m sick of this pain/drama/crazy-ass-world! What’s the point? I’m done!
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve said that or something similar...
And I know it’s not just me; I’ve also heard it from my clients, students, and friends over the decades. But especially lately. And for good reason. The dying of the old paradigm and the creation of the new looks a little like childbirth. Really messy with the hope of something great to come, but at the moment it’s a bit hard to care because it’s too freakin’ painful.
Here is what I have learned so far:
We are the co-creators (with The Divine) of our reality. I know that’s a hard pill to swallow, but hear me out. Just imagine, if you will, that we are in a play. I’ll use myself as an example. My play is about me. I’m the lead. Now, in a normal play (or movie if that analogy works better for you), the actor doesn’t have much say regarding the whole production. She learns her lines (written by someone else) and stands and moves as she is told (by the director). Life can feel like that. Like we really don’t have much influence over what happens throughout the duration.
Still with me? Cuz this can be the hard part. In real life, we do it all. Using the same theater analogy, here is my play:
Lead Actor = Susan
Script Writer = Susan
Director = Susan
Producer = Susan
Casting = Susan
Set Design = Susan
Costuming = Susan
And so on.
Get the picture? I know this can feel overwhelming, but it’s actually a position of great power. If I don’t like something, I can change it.
But what’s the purpose of it all? Why bother?
Because our Soul (our Higher Wise Self - the part of us that never dies) and The Creator (The Divine) wants to experience. We want to go beyond ourselves to learn what else is out there. To learn what else we can become. This is done by experiencing contrast. When I’m in a pinch and life doesn’t feel so good, I ask myself the question, “What did I want to experience here?” Take that to meditation and see what comes to you. Spoiler Alert! Part of the answer to that question is to take the experience to the width and depth of it. How do we do that? Emotions. We cannot bypass them and live fully. And I’m not just talking about the “happy” ones. Go ahead and dive into the whole smorgasbord of emotions.
